I vowed to write more this academic year, but I’ve been so busy that I haven’t written at all!  It was a fall full of fun and exciting experiences, including presentations, Homecoming, and literacy events.  I suppose it’s like Zorba the Greek said – “All those who actually live the mysteries of life haven’t the time to write, and all those who have the time don’t live them!”

Since it is officially one of my New Year’s resolutions, I plan to do a better job keeping this blog up-to-date this semester.

One of the most rewarding experiences I had this past semester was taking three English Ed. students to the 44th annual VATE (Virginia Association of Teachers of English) conference in Williamsburg.  It was the first professional conference experience for each of them.  They saw some good presentations, participated in a student panel presentation, and met many other teachers and future teachers in their content area.

I gave a presentation titled, Create, Publish, Read!: Using Digital Books to Improve Literacy and Engage and Support Diverse Learners, and had a great time getting to know these amazing ladies a little better outside of the classroom!
