I was excited to learn that VATE (Virginia Association of Teachers of English) accepted my conference proposal this week!  I will be speaking at their yearly conference in late October.  My presentation is titled: Who’s The Fairest of Them All?: Using Fairytales and Folktales to Celebrate Diversity.

In this session I will offer ideas for how to use fairytales and folktales to promote appreciation and understanding of other cultures.  I will share strategies, lesson ideas, and resources, including text sets, graphic organizers, and suggestions for incorporating various technologies, such as Google Lit Trips, Xtranormal, and Glogster, that will actively engage students.
